Welcome to the 2017/2018 Bowling Season

Welcome back everyone to another year of bowling! We have some important changes this year so please take note!

Membership Fees
Our fees for the 2017/2018 season will be $16.00. Please contact your league executive or your proprietor to purchase your card. The deadline to purchase cards at this price is October 31, 2017. After this date, the cost of the card will be $20.00.

POA Fees - League
We are trying something new this year. Any bowler wishing to participate in the POA will be charged $10.00 and will automatically advance to the zone round. Essentially we are eliminating the house round of the POA. This will hopefully increase the number of bowlers participating as well as remove some of the pressures from the houses to keep track of results each week.

Monthly Meetings
Our meetings have been moved back to the second Sunday of every month (time TBD) unless otherwise noted.

League Listing
We now have a full listing of leagues that are in the City. If you are interested in joining a league please contact the appropriate bowling centre.

Youth Challenge Eligibility - Age
Youth bowlers who are twelve (12) and not yet nineteen (19) as of December 31st may participate (previously the minimum age was thirteen).

League Executive Tournament
We will be holding this tournament along with the POA and Hi-Low Doubles this year instead of on its own. The League Executive will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 2:00PM, following the POA qualifying. This is being done in the hopes of getting more bowlers out as well as to more easily coordinate our provincial teams.

Open Provincial Champs

posted May 9, 2017, 7:11 AM by Brandon Favel

Once again, Thunder Bay's Open bowlers performed incredibly. Our men's, ladies, and mixed teams, along with Sam Sitar in the ladies singles event, placed first to take home the gold medal. These fine people will be representing Northern Ontario at the Open National Championships in Regina. Congratulations to these bowlers! We'd also like to congratulate all bowlers who competed at the provincial. Everybody represented their zones very well and there was a lot of great bowling!

Youth Challenge Provincial 2016

posted Dec 7, 2016, 6:20 AM by Brandon Favel

There was some great bowling and sportsmanship on December 3, 2016 at the Youth Challenge Provincial in Timmins! Our teams cleaned up nicely. Congratulations to the mixed team (coached by Tanya Porto) for bringing home the GOLD, and to our men's and ladies' teams for bringing home the SILVER (ladies missed the gold by only 1/2 a point). Unfortunately we fell one point short of taking home the aggregate banner for what would have been the 7th year in a row.

Congratulations to all bowlers. A huge thank you to Dave Campsall and the Gold Belt executive for their hard work in organizing this tournament. Thanks to Nat Berry of Midtown Bowl for hosting another provincial tournament that went off without any major issues. Finally, thanks to the NO5PBA executive once again for all of your hard work in making sure these tournaments run smoothly and for keeping the sport of 5-pin bowling alive in Northern Ontario.

Welcome to the 2016/2017 Bowling Season!

Hi everyone!

We are gearing up for the new season and have a lot of exciting things to announce for this year.

This year we are hoping to get a few more volunteers! As the executive is mostly filled we don't need a full season dedication from you. We are looking for people who are willing to help with tournaments to ease the burden on our executive. Your time requirement would be one weekend out of the year (or multiple if you want to help with more than one tournament)! You would have to show up, help enter scores in the computer, and help to coordinate the distribution of provincial information to the winners. If you are interested please contact us at

Brandon has worked over the summer to develop a new website for the association! Check it out at!

We are making a leap out of the stone age and are now offering Visa/MasterCard as a method of payment at tournaments. Visa Debit is in the testing stages but we are hoping we can accept this as well before the season starts!

People who require a membership card can now easily purchase and pay for their membership online! See our "Membership" page for details.

We are now offering online tournament registrations along with the paper forms. People wishing to register for tournaments can sign up and pay online (Visa, MasterCard, and Visa Debit branded cards can be used online). As there is a cost for this service please consider a donation of $1.00 or $2.00 to help offset these costs.

We are in the process of setting up a way to lookup your C5PBA number online! Stay tuned for details as we get into our busy tournament season.

Congratulations to the 2016 N.O. Lottery Winners!

Annual Meeting

posted Mar 15, 2015, 11:55 AM by Brandon Favel   [ updated Mar 15, 2015, 11:55 AM ]

TBD5PBA will be holding its Annual General Meeting in May! This is the big meeting of the year where changes can be made in the bowling community. This is also the meeting where we hold executive elections. Anyone who is interested in being a part of the executive must attend a minimum of 2 meetings to be eligible for nomination, so make sure you come out for the April and May meetings if you are interested!  Anyone interested in putting forward a motion for changes at the zone level must present them at the April 9th meeting for consideration at the AGM.

Look forward to seeing you there!
